1 pound dry ziti pasta
1 onion, chopped
1 pound lean ground beef
2 (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
6 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
1 1/2 cups sour cream or (Ricotta Cheese)
6 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
In a large pot of boiling water, add some salt and add Ziti pasta to cook for 8 minutes, or until al dente (to be firm to the bite), which means slightly under-cooked in Italian. Drain the pasta. Put a large skillet over medium heat and add the beef meat and chopped onion. Cook them until brown. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F. Prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish by buttering and start to lay first 1/2 of the Ziti, then cover with Provolone cheese, sour cream or (Ricotta Cheese), a layer of sauce mixture one half of it, then add the remaining Ziti, grated mozzarella cheese, again the remaining sauce mixture. On the top add grated Parmesan cheese. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 30 minutes covered with aluminium foil, until it’s nice and melted.
